What to Look for When Selecting the Best Water for Baby Formula
This is not medical advice. Ask your pediatrician what water to mix with formula. Many parents use boiled tap water or a labeled nursery water. A home filter is extra chemical reduction on city tap water — not a substitute for pediatric guidance.

What Parents Usually Weigh
Chlorine taste, fluoride, lead from old pipes, nitrates, and mineral hardness. Hydration basics: hot-weather hydration.
A study on tap vs treated water and later IBS is here: PMC article. It is not a Berkey claim.
Lead in child-care taps: EWG California child-care lead.
Metals and fluoride: heavy metals, fluoride.
Distilled vs Filtered Tap
Distilled water has almost no minerals. Some pediatricians prefer it for formula; some do not. Calcium background: KidsHealth calcium.
Filtered city tap water still has minerals. That is a preference issue, not a germ claim.
Tap Water and Formula
City tap can contain chlorine, metals, and other leftovers. See is tap water safe to drink and chlorine smell.
Follow CDC / AAP mixing directions (often boil, then cool) unless your doctor says otherwise. A Berkey does not replace that step.

Where Berkey Fits
A Big Berkey reduces chlorine, many metals, pesticides, and PFAS in municipally treated tap water and keeps minerals. Official replacements: Phoenix filters.
It is not for well water or “any source.” It is not medical equipment.
