Drinking Enough Water While Traveling

By Jeff Wise June 27, 2023

Are you drinking enough water while traveling?

On the road, it's important that you're drinking enough water.

Dehydration can be an unpleasant experience, and it's easy not to drink enough water while you're traveling.

No one wants to be miserable during a trip, whether it's for entertainment purposes or for work.

While traveling, it's easy to forget about drinking plenty of water.

Maybe that's because people don't want to buy an excessive amount of bottled water. Maybe it's because they just forget.

Staying hydrated while traveling is very important, though.

Learn How to Stay Properly Hydrated

Since Berkey water filters are portable, we recommend taking your Berkey system with you when you travel.

They're perfect to keep in hotel rooms, cabins, or an Airbnb so that while indoors, you're drinking enough water.

Another great option is a Sport Berkey, which can go with you wherever you go.

Whether you're at the beach, visiting a museum, or in meetings all day, the Sport Berkey acts as a water bottle, except the water is filtered and clean.

These simple tips can make sure that you and your family are hydrated while traveling.

Becoming Dehydrated

What happens if you don't drink enough water while traveling?

This can lead to dehydration, which includes the following symptoms:

  • Headache
  • Sleepiness
  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Low blood pressure

There are signs to recognize dehydration before it becomes too dangerous. Make sure you're aware of those signs.

How Much Water Should Someone Drink?

How much water is enough for a day to stay healthy and hydrated? Well, it depends.

There's an easy way to figure out how much water you should drink in a day.

Whatever your weight is, you want to drink half of that number in ounces.

For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink 75 ounces of water a day. That comes to a little more than nine cups.

Benefits of Drinking Enough Water

Staying hydrated ensures that your body and mind are functioning at full capacity.

You're more likely to feel healthy and happy when you're consuming enough water. After all, the body is more than 70% water.

Trips can be tiring, but you'll grow even more tired if you're not drinking enough water.

You'll also have trouble focusing and enjoying the moment if you're not drinking enough.

Whether you're traveling for entertainment or work, staying focused and alert is important.

Take these facts seriously for the health of you and your family.

Be sure everyone stays hydrated on your next traveling excursion to help you have a great experience!

I Can Relate to Traveling and Staying Hydrated

We understand the struggles of staying hydrated while traveling. I have a job that takes me all over the country.

Through work, I believe I've traveled to at least 45 states over the years.

It's fun to see so many different places, but I understand how much it takes out of you.

I always try to stay conscious of how much water I'm drinking.

If you're like me, you don't like to drink a lot right before or during a flight. I hate having to take multiple bathroom breaks on a plane.

But, as soon as I land, I make sure I drink a lot of water to make up for it.

I usually have my Sport Berkey with me because taking a Berkey system isn't reasonable.

There are other challenges, though. I have a high-stress job that doesn't let me take many bathroom breaks.

For that reason, while working I also try not to consume too much water.

Again, though, this means I have to make up for it at another time.

And if I don't, I really feel it later. By the end of the day, I feel sluggish and sick if I haven't had enough water.

Are You Drinking Enough Water While Traveling?

While I understand the challenges, let me encourage you to be mindful of your water consumption while traveling.

I promise that you'll feel better and enjoy your experience more if you stay hydrated while on the road.

If you start feeling miserable, tired, or sluggish, ask yourself, "How much water have I had today?" The answer is probably, not enough.

Enjoy your travels by drinking enough water on the road!
