Traveling with a Berkey is about packing the system and using it on treated tap water at hotels, rentals, and RV fills — not on untreated local sources.

What Do I Do With My Berkey on Vacation?

Empty it, dry it, and pack the chambers, elements, and stand separately. At a hotel or Airbnb, set it on a level counter and fill the top from the room tap if that water is municipally treated.

That cuts bottled-water runs. It does not replace a boil-water notice or untreated well water.

How to Transport a Berkey

Travel with it empty. Wrap elements in a soft cloth. Cushion the chambers with clothes. Store dry elements as in how to store Berkey elements. Official replacements are the Phoenix filters.

How To Travel With a Berkey in an RV

Pack it empty. Fill from the RV tank only if that tank was filled from a treated municipal source. Campground taps that are city or park-treated water are the intended fill. Do not pour ditch, lake, or unknown well water into it.

Set it on a level counter and strap it if the coach is moving.
